When Chichester’s vegan food prep queen Toni Debolla aka ‘Feed Me Momma’ agreed to create us a summer dessert for our picnic photoshoot, we were very excited to see what she would conjure up. It is safe to say that when she arrived with a decadent plant-based chocolate cake we were not disappointed!

After the photoshoot, we asked Toni about her experience on the Rosie Rose shoot and her inspiration behind the vegan cake. We also got an understanding about why she believes collaborating with other independent brands is important and how you can try her wonderful food.

How did you enjoy the Rosie Rose shoot?

I loved being part of the Rosie Rose shoot, we were so lucky with the weather as it was such a glorious day. I always love working with friends, so catching up with Leila whilst we were both wearing some gorgeous Rosie Rose pieces felt so organic and natural, and I feel that this shined through in the shoot! It was lovely meeting Marilyn and Kate too, they share my love for fitness and fashion, so I enjoyed speaking with them about their favourite spots in and around the local area. They were very interested in my yoga practice too, and Kate also practices yoga, so I showed them some of my moves!

What was your favourite piece from the shoot?

I adored wearing the white linen dress as it was very airy and cooling and I just loved the way the fabric felt against my skin, it was almost like it was breathing with me! But my favourite? That’s tough. I’d probably have to say the dungarees. They’re coming back into fashion this summer, so Rosie Rose is definitely on trend there, and I love the fit and boho style look they give. It is just a super easy and relaxed outfit to throw on that still looks good! Rosie Rose really has something for everyone, it is such a unique and funky store, and you can really find some treasures in there. There is something special about independent stores like Rosie Rose, just know that once you’ve walked in, you can’t walk out empty handed, there’s so many goodies!

What inspired you to create the raw, vegan chocolate cake for the shoot?

Well, I seriously love this plant-based cake of dreams and I thought everyone on the shoot would too! My personal mantra is to make delicious food that is good for the mind, body and soul, but also tastes really good. Healthy food can reduce stress and improve gut health, and I love to make stuff from fresh ingredients, so this chocolate cake is definitely one of my go to recipes for a chocolate fix! It’s also a rather pretty looking indulgence, and the fig, raspberry, strawberry and blueberry mixture complemented the colour styling for the shoot and really gave off a Rosie Rose feeling – I thought it would be perfect.

Where can people try your food?

I have always loved cooking for people and big groups, but I never dreamed I could do it for work. When I started receiving lots of great feedback from my food, I thought, I’m going to do it, life’s too short! Just like that, my vegan meal prep business was born. The menu updates weekly and includes dishes such as curry and chillies, and my daal stays on the menu every week – if I take it off people message me wanting it back! You can order my meal prep by messaging me on Instagram @feed-me-momma or Facebook @Feed-Me-Momma, it couldn’t be easier. I also love combining my passion for food with my yoga practice. There is something special about collaborating with inspirational yoga instructors like Cat Meffan to provide the catering on their incredible retreats – I am also a qualified yoga teacher and I practice daily so I really feel at home when I am asked to join and seeing like-minded people enjoy eating the yummy treats I have prepared brings me joy.

Do you often collaborate with other brands or businesses?

At the moment I am loving the vibe that Chichester city centre is giving off - independent stores are doing so well and the high street is buzzing! Collaborating with awesome stores which are independently owned is so important to me and having my food alongside local, kick ass businesses makes me proud. Especially after the tough year we have had, it is super important that we all lift each other up, and shop local where we can. Speaking of independent stores, I am actually part of a new venture with an epic new café called Goat! Goat is located in Bracklesham Bay, just a stones throw away from my favourite beach, and I am so excited to join forces with them. I can’t wait for them to open their doors so that people can enjoy some of my yummy treats with their cuppas!

Thank you, Toni, for creating such a gorgeous and delicious cake for our shoot and modelling our summer collection so well! We thoroughly enjoyed having you with us and are so thankful for your ongoing support and love for Rosie Rose.
